ABOUT
In November 2018, George Stonefish and associates were successful in organizing the first ever Lunaapeew PowWow at the Armoury in Manahahtáanung. As a part of this gathering, George with the help of Brent Stonefish were able to invite leadership from various Lunaapeew communities from New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, 2 communities in Ontario, Canada, and a representative from Bartlesville, Oklahoma to discuss the prospect of unity between all the displaced groups of Lunaapeew. From this initial gathering George and Brent continued to work on the vision discussed and decided on by those Chiefs and Nation representatives in attendance. However, due to Covid-19, efforts were stalled until the summer of 2022.
Since that time, George Stonefish was contacted by the Museum of New York, The Brooklyn Museum, Lefferts Historic House at Prospect Park, and Rutgers University to help with projects related to the above objectives.
